Free Plantarium Show on Black Holes
Falling
into a black hole has never been this cool. The NASA Education
and Public Outreach group at SSU invites faculty, staff,
and their families to a free special screening of "Black
Holes: The Other Side of Infinity", a planetarium
show about monster black holes, narrated by Liam Neeson.
The special SSU screenings are at 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.
on Saturday, May 19 at the Chabot Space and Science
Center located at 10000 Skyline Dr., Oakland. Incredible
special effects and cutting-edge science, will
amaze the entire family as well as a special audience
participation section where anyone can test their knowledge

Music for World Peace and World Freedom
"World
Peace, World Freedom," presented by the Sonoma
County Choral Society, is a concert of world music
drawn from the repertoires of Africa, South and Central
America, Asia and beyond. The concert is being held
at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 11 at Our Lady of Guadalupe
Catholic Church, 8400 Old Redwood Hwy., Windsor; and
on Saturday, May 12, 8 p.m., Holy Family Episcopal

Discover Bilingual Book Group Lecture
Professor Elizabeth Martinez leads a free book discussion on Tuesday, May 7 at 7 p.m., in the Forum Room of the Healdsburg Library, of Gabriel Garcia Márquez's novel "Of Love and Other Demons." Presented in both Spanish and English, the event is part of a series called "Voices and Visions: Books that Transform." "The program is an opportunity for English and Spanish speaking people to learn more about each other and get together over a good book, " says Martinez. Those interested in reading the book and attending the program should pick up a copy at the Circulation Desk of the Healdsburg Library.
An All American 4th of July
With the postponement of the annual campus July 4th event at the Green Music Festival for this year, the campus community can look to Rohnert Park for some patriotic entertainment. The Rohnert Park Community Band hosts the 9th annual “Concert in the Park” at Eagle Park beginning at 3 p.m. on July 4 in a free outdoor music concert presented by the band and the Moonlighters Swing Era Big Band. The two-hour concert features traditional swing-era Big Band and concert band music including show tune medleys, marches and popular music. It ends with traditional patriotic tunes.
The Rohnert Park Community Band and the Moonlighters have been entertaining music lovers for almost 30 years with traditional and popular music composed and arranged for band. The Eagle Park setting provides plenty of space and shade for the entire family to relax and enjoy an afternoon outdoor concert. Bring chairs, blankets, food, friends and family of all ages.
