Plan to Bike to Work on May 17
Faculty,
staff and students are encouraged to commute to campus
using means other than their cars as part of this year's
Bike to Work Day from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 17. SSU is
proud to be partnering again with 511.org for
this year's effort, says Missy Wynes, parking director.
On Bike to Work Day, Energizer Stations will be located
throughout the county to hydrate and encourage each rider
on their way to SSU. At the final stop, SSU plans to host
a station at the south entrance to campus, near the flagpole.
There will also be free gifts, food and refreshments and
a chance at great raffle prizes. Police & Parking Services
will also be registering bicycles for free during the Bike
to Work Day activities. In addition, bicycle maintenance
and repair will be available at this location for SSU students,
faculty or staff. For more information, visit Bike
to Work Day online.
Federal Express Pick Ups Earlier on Campus
Due to last Sunday's freeway collapse in Oakland, Federal Express drivers are having to deal with major traffic issues and must head for the airport much earlier than normal. The campus regular Federal Express pick up time in Receiving at 3 p.m. has been moved up to approximately 1:30 p.m. This is to allow enough time for drivers to deal with the freeway traffic delays.
This could be a short term change, but that is unclear at this point. If outgoing Federal Express letters or packages are ready for the morning mail pick up at approximately 11:30 a.m.- Noon, they will go out as usual via Federal Express that day. Beyond that time frame, items may not leave campus via Federal Express until the following day. For more information contact, FedEx Kinko's at 439 Rohnert Park Expressway, 584-4471.
