WELCOMING THE CLASS OF 2011
TO SOAR 2007!
SOAR (Sonoma Orientation,
Advising and Registration)
is planned for the largest-ever freshman class
at SSU and happens in nine sessions in June
Members of the Student Affairs and Enrollment Management Division have planned a first class orientation program for 2007-08 freshmen students and their parents beginning next week. The campus community is invited to be partners in welcoming the newest members of the University.
As you go about your daily business, please look for opportunities to offer a friendly smile or brief hello to our student and parent guests (they will be wearing name tags). Offer to help with directions, or answer their questions. These simple gestures will show that all of us at SSU are ready and willing to assist in making their college experience rewarding and memorable.
The Class of 2011
SSU welcomes its largest ever freshmen class. Over 1,700 first time freshmen have been invited to attend one of the nine SOAR sessions that will be held during the month of June. Approximately 200 students and 200 parents per session are expected each of the nine sessions scheduled.
SOAR Welcome
Students and parents will begin their day in Evert B. Person Theatre where Dr. Elaine Leeder, Dean of the School of Social Sciences, welcomes them to our beautiful campus and the beginning of their college life.
The 2007 SOAR program is comprised of the following major components:
- Advising and registration for Fall 2007 classes
- Transition to College – “Top 10 Tips to be successful at SSU”
- Parent Program – Our partners in helping their students succeed
- Residential Living Orientation – Tools for a smooth transition
