"Celebrating Our Teachers," a special event sponsored by
Sonoma State University's School of Education and the SSU Alumni
Association, will pay tribute to those in the teaching profession on Wednesday, October 21 on the SSU campus. The event takes place in the University Art Gallery with a special exhibit by students from Santa Rosa High School ArtQuest and from the SSU Children's Center. CSU Chancellor Charles Reed, who will be on campus on October 21 and 22, will speak at the event.
The reception ceremony is part of a weekend of activities on the SSU
campus, known as "Weekend of Excellence." SSU President Ruben Armi'ana and
education department Chair Martha Ruddell also will be present at the event.
The reception will honor School of Education alumni, resident teachers
and field supervisors, as well as SSU student scholarship recipients in the
School of Education.
Light refreshments will be served. According to Phyllis Fernlund, Dean of
the School of Education, "At this event, we wish to honor the educators
who have made a difference in their schools and classrooms, and who have
helped us bring a new generation of teachers and administrators into the
profession."
