Anthropologist Speaks on "Early America Revisited"

Author, linguist, literary critic, anthropologist, and Rutgers University Professor Dr. Ivan Van Sertima will lecture on his book, "Early America Revisited" in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Sonoma Student Union at Sonoma State University on Wednesday, March 31, 6-8 p.m. This event is free and wheelchair accessible.

Van Sertima won the Clarence L. Holte Prize for excellence in literature for his book, "They Came Before Columbus: The African Presence in Ancient America." His latest book, "Early America Revisited," investigates information from several disciplines to examine the African presence in Pre-Colombian America. His notes and references lend extensive support to his discussion of the Mandingo voyages, physical and ritual evidence of Egyptian-Nubian contact in the time of the Ramessides, Egyptian-Nubian contact with the Olmec c. 1200 B.C., ritual correspondences, Egyptian contact with South America, and similarities
between ancient Egyptian and ancient Mexican Pyramids as well as between some Nubian and Mexican pyramids.
