Center for the Musical Arts Proposed at Sonoma State University

Sonoma State University and the Santa Rosa Symphony invite all members of the Petaluma Chamber of Commerce, along with members of other Chambers of Commerce in Sonoma County, to attend a reception and presentation on the proposed Center for the Musical Arts at Sonoma State University. The event, scheduled from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, September 23, will be held in the Commons on the SSU campus.

This is an occasion to hear first-hand from SSU President Ruben Arminana; Santa Rosa Conductor Laureate, Corrick Brown; and philanthropist and chairman of Advanced Fibre Communications, Don Green, about their vision for the music center and its impact on the economic vitality and cultural fabric of our region.

The proposed music center is patterned after the highly-acclaimed Seiji Ozawa Hall at Tanglewood in Massachusetts.

According to Don Green, "The new music center is a contribution to the community unlike any other in Sonoma County. For children and adults of all ages there will be music education, musical participation, and extraordinary opportunities to experience world-class performers. The commitment that this center represents to the people of Sonoma County will be experienced far into the new millenium."
