SSU Lacrosse Team Will Attend the 2000 Friendship Games in Japan

Currently ranked number one in both the United Stated Lacrosse Intercollegiate Association (USLIA) and Western Collegiate Lacrosse League (WCLL), the largest collegiate lacrosse league in the nation, Sonoma State University's lacrosse team will compete in the 2000 Friendship Games in Japan this June.

Headed by Western Collegiate Lacrosse League Coach of the Year and SSU coach, John Hughes, five team members will join several teams in different provinces. While abroad the SSU players will promote athletic achievement coupled with the highest ideals of sportsmanship as they represent both their university and country. Prior to the Friendship Games in Japan SSU will host a training camp, directed by Hughes, composed of 22 collegiate all star lacrosse players selected from throughout the western United States.

Among eight top Lacrosse teams expected to compete for the national championship, SSU sophomore midfielder, Ben Alexander was prominently featured on the cover of the January/February issue of Lacrosse Magazine. This season, three of the featured teams; Colorado State, BYU and Michigan will travel to Rohnert Park for early season contests.
