Sonoma State University M.B.A. candidate, Sheila Reilly, has been selected as the first Venture Capital Intern for the North Bay Angels, an Angel Investor Network committed to fostering entrepreneurial opportunities in the North Bay.
The North Bay Angels developed an internship program for Sonoma State University students as part of their mission to enrich the local business community. Interns work with the Angels Program Committee to screen, interview and assess applicants vying for an audience with North Bay Angels investors. The screening process involves reviewing submitted plans, conducting on-site interviews, researching the proposed idea or company, and making recommendations as to which companies are appropriate candidates for presentation to Angel investors. The companies selected present their business concepts at the Angels' monthly meeting in the hopes of securing first round financing and business mentoring services needed to grow their businesses.
Shiela Reilly is the first student to take part in the Angels internship program. She will earn her M.B.A. from Sonoma State University this spring. Her educational background includes a B.S. in Marketing from Eastern Illinois University and an Associate Degree in Nursing from Santa Rosa Junior College. Her professional interests include small business development, internet based start-up businesses, medical practice management and teaching. In addition to her Venture Capital Internship, Reilly works as a Marketing Consultant and Practice Manager for a surgery center in Napa.
