The thirteenth annual SSU Distinguished Alumni banquet will be held Thursday, October 12, at 6:30 p.m. in Rohnert Park's DoubleTree Hotel. It's open to the public; tickets for non-members are $35, or $25 for Alumni Association members. The dinner caps a full day of on-campus activities for the four honorees. Reservations must be made by October 6.
Among the four alums to be honored this year is Rev. Heide Harris, who graduated cum laude with a B.A. in psychology in 1994 and then went on to receive a Master of Divinity from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley.
Also to be honored is Lisa A. Petrides, who earned her MBA from SSU. She is now an assistant professor of education, and the Director of the joint EDD/MBA program in educational leadership and management, in conjunction with the graduate school of business.
Cynthia Riggs received her B.A. in psychology from SSU in 1978. Her store, Making It Big, has become a multimillion dollar company which manufactures natural fiber clothing for large and super-sized women.
Finally, Richard Rose, who earned his B.A. in marketing from SSU in 1990, is the founder and president of Rella Good Cheese Company and Hempnut, Inc.
