The critical issues facing Africa today will be the subject of a two-day conference to be held at Sonoma State University on February 23 and 24 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. each day.
The free Friday program is open to the public. The Saturday program is geared toward K-12 teachers and costs $30 to cover materials.
Friday's morning panel discussion in Warren Auditorium will focus on health, AIDS, and education. It includes guest speakers Rachel King, public health administrator, and Eddah Mutua-Kombo from Kenya, an associate with the Center for African Peace and Conflict Resolution at Sacramento State University.
The afternoon panel discussion in Ives Hall Room 119 will deal with politics and economics. Guest speakers are Sundrasagren Govender, editor and publisher of the South African Beacon, and Arif Gamal of the Center for African Studies at UC-Berkeley.
