Carl Jensen, founder of Project Censored, will read a selection of prose poems from Censored America: An Epic Prose Poem Monday, March 12 at 5 p.m., in Room 119 of Ives Hall at Sonoma State University.
The reading will be accompanied by the "Ambient Noise" group featuring percussionist Gordon Spear, sound effects engineer Sandra Jensen, and videographer Barbara Spear. The performance has been called "Beat Prosody" by the Pacific Sun.
The reading will include fourteen prose poems selected from the more than 200 prose poems in Jensen's latest book, Censored America: An Epic Prose Poem. The prose poems are drawn from nearly 25 years of Project Censored, the nationally renowned media research project founded by Jensen at Sonoma State University in 1976. Prose poems featured during the reading will include "Acid Rain", "Who Owns America", "Unsafe At Any Speed", "The Cruelest Fashion", "Milking the American Public", and "The Sistine Chapel Breeches".
The reading, sponsored by Project Censored, is free. For more information, call Project Censored at (707) 664-2500.
