SSU Student Named Miss Sonoma County

Sarah Chapman, a 20-year-old human development major at Sonoma State University, was crowned Miss Sonoma County on Feb. 26 in Rohnert Park. Chapman was selected from eight other young women who were also competing in the 58th annual county competition.

Contestants were judged in talent, evening wear and swimsuit competitions among others. For the talent portion of the pageant, Chapman sang Nat King Cole's “Orange Colored Sky.”

From Miss Sonoma County, Chapman will advance to the Miss California Scholarship competition, which will be held in June in Fresno. The winner of that competition will then go one to represent California at the Miss America pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in September.

As part of her title, Chapman also received a $1,000 scholarship.
