AlcoholEdu for College
WELCOME:
We at Sonoma State University recognize alcohol is a significant issue in the lives of college students. Even those who do not drink alcohol may be affected by other students who do. Therefore, in an effort to ensure the health and wellness of all our students, Sonoma State University is requiring that each first year student complete AlcoholEdu for College, an online alcohol education program for adults committed to thinking about their life choices."I liked how non-opinionated the program was. I did not feel like I was being scolded or scared straight into not drinking. I liked how it was all factual."

ALCOHOL EDU FOR COLLEGE:
AlcoholEdu is a two-part program: Part 1 takes about 3 hours to complete, while Part 2 takes about 15 minutes to complete. If you choose to complete Part 1 in sections at different times, be sure to complete each section completely so your progress is saved. At the end of Part 1, there is an exam you must pass with a score of 80% or higher. If you do not obtain 80% or higher, you must re-take the exam until you achieve a satisfactory score.
Once you complete Part 1, there is a 45 day waiting period before you can take Part 2 of the program. For example, if you complete Part 1 on August 10, you will not be eligible to begin Part 2 until on or about September 25.
The deadline to complete Part 1 is August 14, 2009.
The deadline to complete Part 2 is October 16, 2009.
Completion of both Part 1 and Part 2 is mandatory. Failure to complete the program will result on a Disciplinary Hold being placed on your student account. This hold prevents class registration and does not allow you to make any changes to your class schedule.
Every first year student must complete AlcoholEdu. There are no exceptions.
"I actually learned a lot and I plan on using these strategies when the situation is present."

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Where can I find my SSU Student ID number?
A: You can find your Student ID number on your Student ID card. It is a 9 digit number located on the bottom left hand corner of the card. You can also find this number on your admissions letter. If you do not have your ID card or admissions letter, please contact Admissions and Records at (707)664-2778 to get your student ID number.
Q: I have a Disciplinary Hold on my account. How do I get this removed?
A: If you have a Disciplinary Hold on your account, it is most likely due to the fact that you have not completed both portions of the program. A disciplinary hold will prevent you from registering for new classes, and/or adding or dropping classes. Please log in to your AlcoholEdu account and see if both Part 1 and Part 2 are complete.
If both parts are complete and you still have a hold, please call the office of Student Affairs at (707) 664-2838. If you have not completed either Part 1 or Part 2, do so as soon as possible, then call the office of Student Affairs to resolve this matter.
Please note: It may take up to 24 hours for your hold to be removed. Be sure to check your PeopleSoft account periodically to ensure you do not have any holds that may impact your registration.
Q: I don't drink alcohol. Why do I have to do AlcoholEdu?
A: AlcoholEdu is a mandatory program that all first time freshmen at Sonoma State University are required to take. The purpose is to raise awareness about alcohol, and to help develop purposeful skills about how to deal with situations where alcohol is involved.
Q: I just completed Part 1. Why can't I access Part 2?
A: There is a 45 day waiting period between Part 1 and Part 2 of the program. You will receive an email alert when you are eligible to access Part 2 of the exam.
