OUR MISSION. OUR GOALS.
What is the Seawolf Leadership Initiatives Peer Leadership Program?
The Seawolf Leadership program consists of staff, student leaders and resources that come from various departments and divisions on campus who share a commitment to student leadership, retention and graduation. Because we understand the value of peer interaction, we are committed to providing the best training for our peer leaders. In an effort to create a common foundation for all Seawolf Peer Leaders, we require completion of the Seawolf Leadership Workshop Series after being hired into one of the 10 positions that the SLP categorizes as Peer Leadership positions.
Topics that will be covered in these workshops revolve around the Relational Leadership Model. They include the concepts that Leadership is:
- Purposeful
- Inclusive
- Empowering
- Ethical
- Process Oriented
We are also dedicated to providing services that assist students in their academic endeavors. From Orientation (SOAR), UNIV 102 and 150 to Living and Learning Peer positions in the res halls, our programs strive to improve student success in college.
How do I gain leadership experience?
There are a variety of ways to gain leadership experience at Sonoma State University. From coursework and experiential opportunities to community service and peer helping positions, students can choose from a variety of options.
Some of those options include getting involved in the numerous clubs and organizations, Associated Students, JUMP, RSA or working with your student leader to create opportunities for yourself and others.
