Career Services and AlumniWho Is Eligible:Degree recipients from Sonoma State University and former SSU students who have completed 24 units of resident credit or Alumni from other CSU campuses who present a Reciprocity Card from their campus career center are eligible for Career Services, which include attendance at workshops and career fairs, and one career advising session per year. Extended Education credits do not qualify for eligibility. Annual fee $25.00. Pay fees at Customer Services Center, Salazar Hall, and bring your receipt to Career Services across the hall at Salazar 1070, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. SSU Alumni Association members enjoy a 20% discount, and pay $20/year for Career Services. Recent SSU graduates receive all services at no charge for a three-month period from the termination of their student status. Alumni from other CSUs have no grace period. Fall graduates have free service through March 31st, Spring graduates have free service through August 31st and Summer graduates have free service through November 30th. On-line Career Support ServicesInformation on Self-Directed Career Planning, Resume Writing Techniques, Interviewing Strategies, etc. Computerized Career ExplorationChoices and Eureka, two highly interactive career planning and exploration computer programs are available for alumni use in Salazar 1070. Computers are also available with resume writing templates in the office of Career Services, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Career FairThe World of Work Fair on April 14, 2005, features employers from business, nonprofit, and government sectors offering full-time, part-time, and summer jobs. Alumni are welcome! Career OpportunitiesCareer-related books, journals, and magazines are available in the Career Library. Computers are available for alumni to search the Internet, write a resume, or post a resume on-line, with Career Services staff available to answer questions. Career Services is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Salazar Hall 1070. Career ClassesA Career and Life planning class is offered each semester (UNIV. 237). It focuses on self assessment and career exploration. Referral to JobLinkSonoma County Job Link provides career counseling and job search assistance to all Sonoma County residents. |
