Community Involvement and Internship ProgramsCareer Services recognizes the critical role which internships and community service play in preparing students to be competitive in the job market. Through service learning, students gain practical experience and new insight into the theoretical models they learn in the classroom. This integration promotes student development, career decision making and career readiness and can strengthen the links between the university and the community. Career Services acts as an intermediary in identifying, posting and promoting community volunteer and internship opportunities for students and connecting students to faculty sponsors to receive academic credit. Career Services provides one component of a multi-faceted approach to service learning at Sonoma and is represented on the campus wide Service Learning Task Force by an ESAS advisor.
