SUMMER BRIDGE PROGRAM - FALL 2008Click on each thumbnail image to enlarge.
Summer Bridge Picture Day!!!EOP Closing DinnerSummer Bridge is designed to smooth the way for historically low-income and first-generation college students from high school to the university setting. The primary focus of the program is to give the students a taste of university life while creating supportive relationships between them and other E.O.P. students and advisors. Summer Bridge provides an introduction to campus life, student services, and the surrounding community. It also provides participants with an orientation to the university, academic advising, and registration for Fall classes. Participants learn college survival skills including handling needs such as housing, financial aid, budgeting, and career and major planning. There is also time for leisure activities and visits to locations off campus in Sonoma County. Most importantly, Summer Bridge begins the development of a sense of community for the Summer Bridge participants. Summer Bridge 2008 will begin on Sunday, July 6 and ends on Saturday July 12. This supervised, residential program is free of charge and is required for all entering EOP Freshmen. Contact the EOP Services (707) 664-2427 for more information. THE PROGRAM INCLUDES:
Summer Bridge is REQUIRED for all EOP First Time Freshmen. There is NO CHARGE for you to attend this program. More information on the Summer Bridge 2008 can be found in the Fall 2008 Summer Bridge Booklet. EOP AcademyAll first semester EOP Freshmen will take part in the EOP Academy. A major component of the Academy is the development of a learning community where our students will attend a block of classes with the same group of EOP students. Students taking classes together in a learning community tend to adapt quicker to the challenges of college, and in turn, become more successful students during their first year. Our goals for the Academy are to provide academic and social support for our incoming EOP freshmen, increasing their academic success and retention. Academy classes include Freshman Seminar, English, and either a course in American Multicultural Studies, or support classes in reading and writing. The instructor for the Freshman Seminar class is also the students' EOP Advisor. Contact the EOP Center, (707) 664-2427, for more information on the EOP Academy. |
