Sauvignon CommUNITY

By joining Sauv CommUNITY, students seek and commit to active involvement in cooperative (co-op) teams, which are designed to foster positive community, investment, and pride in the students’ living environment. Students choosing to live in Sauv CommUNITY will be expected to commit to participating as a member of a Co-op Team. Each Sauv CommUNITY resident will be part of one of six committees within his or her building. The residents of Sauv CommUNITY, with the assistance of a Co-Op Team Leader, will contribute to the active planning of programs and events that best suit their building and the overall community. Sauv CommUNITY residents will have the unique opportunity to interact and work with Community Service Advisors and Co-Op Team Leaders.

In each building in Sauvignon, residents will actively participate in one of the following committees:

Building Council: members promote leadership opportunities within Sauv such as Village Council, the Residential Student Association (RSA) and the planning of community-wide events. Building council members will voice concerns of residents within their building and will be active in helping to promote a positive living-learning environment.

Diversity: members will help to honor the inherent worth and dignity in all Sauv residents, while educating each other on the richness of our diverse community.

Academic Success: members will provide support and resources to students on academic advising, tutoring, study skills, etc.

Sustainability: members will increase awareness and participation in the Sauv CommUNITY recycling efforts and smart energy consumption.

Social Programming: members will implement fun social activities to help residents get to know each other. Members will create fun alternatives to alcohol and drug use and will help to create ways for resident to feel a sense of pride and enthusiasm for their building and their village.

Community Outreach: members will help to create community service opportunities for Sauv residents, and/or will help to create cordial connections and community partnerships between Sauv Village and neighboring residential communities and schools.
