Sonoma State Online Wine Business Management Certificate
Now Accepting Applications for June 18th start
Rohnert Park, CA- The Wine Business Institute at Sonoma State is now accepting applications for the Foundation Course, level one of three for the online Wine Business Management Certificate. Applications will be accepted until June 15th and students can apply online. The new certificate allows participants to strengthen their knowledge of wine business fundamentals, marketing and finance in an online format accessible in every corner of the world. "Invaluable course in helping wineries understand how the variables in making wine affect profitability," stated Karen Heintz of Charles Heintz Vineyards.
The Foundation course is an overview of global wine commerce - how wine is distributed and sold around the world. It is taught by Tim Hanni MW who is the one of the first two Americans to earn the title Master of Wine. He is also an internationally recognized wine educator and joined Sonoma State's wine industry faculty for the launch of the new program. He is involved in cutting edge sensory and behavioral research projects focused on understanding wine consumer preferences, attitudes and behaviors.
Speaking of the foundation and intermediate courses, Chris Millard, winemaker at Newton Vineyard, described them as "two great courses and a very positive experience with the SSU Wine Business Institute via the Internet. I got everything I wanted from both courses. The content was suited to my interests and areas I wanted to focus on for my future development. Additionally, the pace and presentation via the web suited my work and personal time constraints."
Student Jeff Zielinski noted, "As someone looking to make a career change and enter the wine industry I was looking for a reputable and flexible way to gain the necessary education. The online SSU Wine Business Management Foundation course was the perfect start. It provided me with an understanding of what it takes to produce a wine and bring it to market. Tim Hanni is a fantastic instructor and offers in-depth industry knowledge while encouraging students to look at issues from multiple points of view. The course has fueled my interest in the industry even more and I look forward to the next level."
Course Dates: June 18th - July 13th
