Fetzer Vineyards: Staff Accountant/Reporting Analyst

This is a newly created position in response to their growth and expanding business needs.
They are going through expansion and change and couldn't be more excited about being acquired by Concha y Toro. Publically traded and based in Chile with operations in Argentina, it's the world's ninth largest winery with more than 28 million cases sold annually. As their first US operations, they've got big plans for Fetzer including expanding their line of wines, making improvements in quality, and enhancing sales and marketing initiatives to handle the anticipated larger volume of sales.
About Fetzer:
Their non-union, multi-site California winery operation includes 1000 acres of farmed vineyards and 3 million cases produced annually. Operations include Mendocino County winery, production and vineyard locations; Paso Robles winery and Jekel vineyard operation in Greenfield, with a combined sales of approximately $185 Million and combined employment of 305 with an additional approximately 40 seasonally.
Scope:
Support business partners by performing timely and accurate budgetary, analysis, forecasting, and planning activities.
60% - Accounting and Financial Analysis
• Establish control testing and procedures to ensure accurate posting to ledger accounts.
• Parent Company reporting to Concha y Toro, Chile: price x quantity reporting (Parent & Divisional); coordinate preparation of reports due to Chile by other areas; financial analysis as requested by our parent company, Concha y Toro.
• Monthly Close: prepare journal entries, coordinate monthly closing activities, maintain and publish closing calendar, record and reconcile freight accruals.
• Account Reconciliations: prepare account reconciliations as requested, coordinate preparations of reconciliations by other areas, maintain master reconciliation log.
• Bulk wine import document tracking and reconciliation to Winemaker's Database (WMDB) & SAP systems.
• General ledger account/territory set-up and maintenance.
15% - Fixed Asset System Maintenance
• Responsible for maintenance of the Fixed Asset (FA) system (record additions & deletions).
• Reconcile Fixed Asset sub ledger system to General Ledger.
• Budget/forecast depreciation expenses.
• Fixed asset analysis as requested by management.
15% - Excise Tax Returns
Responsible for preparation of excise tax returns according to established schedule.
10% - Property Tax Returns & General Insurance
• Responsible for preparation of property tax returns including budgetary and forecasting activities.
• Responsible for allocations, budgeting, and forecasting of general insurance expenses.
Must Experience:
• Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with 2-4 years related experience or equivalent education/experience combination.
• Thorough understanding of GAAP and ability to perform and present analysis.
• Requires the ability to communicate professionally and effectively to all levels of internal and external contacts including distributors, sales, vendors, agency representatives and employees of all levels.
• Requires advanced level of proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups) and reporting systems; proficiency in computer applications such as Database/Data Management systems, Word, Internet, & Email.
• Ability to independently plan, coordinate, and complete complex assignments with accuracy and within designated timeframe.
• Ability to maintain accurate documentation and perform quality work with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Commitment to safety excellence and producing work of the highest quality.
Preferred Experience:
• Prior experience with SAP and/or Winemaker database systems
• Bilingual: English/Spanish

Fetzer Vineyards' corporate office is located at 12901 Old River Rd Hopland, CA 95449 Hopland is a small town of less than 800 people located at the start of the Redwoods of Northern California. It is about a two hour drive, along scenic U.S. Route 101, north of San Francisco. No relocation available for this position.
