Sonoma Valley Family Winery: Controller

A new family winery located in Sonoma Valley is seeking an experienced finance professional for the position of Controller. This management position will be responsible for production of the winery's financials, including tax and financial reporting, budgeting and analysis, and cash management.  The successful candidate will have the combination of previous winery experience, be a CPA, and most importantly, be a high energy team player who enjoys being part of growing, successful business. Salary will be commensurate with experience within the range of $50,000-$65,000.

Controller Position Responsibilities

Overall Financial Management
• Work closely with management to ensure that fiscally and financially responsible business decisions are made
• Assist management in financial planning. Work with other team members to understand revenue and provide information helpful to decision-making
• Manage all aspects of accounting operations, manage all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll and financial reporting
• Provide strategic guidance to support company growth needs

Accounting, Taxes & Financial Reporting
• Provide accurate and timely financial reports to management
• Help management resolve financial issues that can impact business performance and profitability
• Manage continual improvement of accounting processes and procedures
• Maintain the financial reporting calendar, including preparation of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial statements and other external reporting
• Ensure accurate payroll processes
• Manage tax compliance/preparing process for Federal, state and international statutory tax filings, including managing external tax compliance, state excise and sales/use tax

Budgeting, Financial Planning & Analysis
• Coordinate the quarterly budgeting process
• Advise management on forecasting reports, financial planning, and policy changes
• Maintain the financial planning model, including historical data, current year plan, forecast and actual data for the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow and liquidity statements

Treasury and Cash Management
• Manage cash flow planning
• Manage and oversee payments to outside vendors and partners

Qualifications
• 4+ years of accounting and financial management experience
• CPA required
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
• Substantial experience with financial reporting systems, including QuickBooks
• Experience working in a small or mid-sized company
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and stay on top of deliverables
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines
• Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), corporate financial or operational processes and financial systems/applications
• Excellent oral and written communications skills
• Ability to effectively communicate accounting information, policies, and procedures
• Ability to plan, organize and execute tasks in an efficient and dependable manner according to business needs and objectives
• Team player, positive attitude, problem solver

Start Date: ASAP
Salary: DOE, within the range of $50,000-$65,000/Yr
