Summertime in a Glass (SIAG): Intern

Description & Requirements:
We are looking for an intern to work approximately 6-8 days per month assisting with our Sauvignon Blanc promotion activities. The internship position requires a self-starter interested in learning various facets of the wine industry, including marketing/promotion, events planning, viniculture and viticulture. Responsibilities will include gathering Sauvignon Blanc related content from various sources (new clippings, magazine articles, blogs, online/print wine reviews, etc.) and editing and posting them on appropriate web space. Also, the ability and desire to research the "world" of sauvignon blanc and apply that knowledge and those findings to the role and outputs. Additionally, intern must be willing to travel to North Coast and Bay Area wine regions periodically to meet with partners, deliver promotional print materials and assist with events.
Must be computer savvy (blog, social media and web skills a plus.) Must be able to accomplish tasks as needed independently (amounts of work and timing thereof will vary somewhat according to project work, events, etc. - there is no set schedule and work must be completed as needed) Must be able to fulfill deadlines and report on activities to Executive Director, partners and collaborators. Great communication skills - phone, online and in-person are a must. Quality writing skills are also needed. Intern should desire to work in the wine industry in some fashion. Ability to identify opportunities, make recommendations and take initiative to solve problems and achieve program goals is highly desired. Students in business, marketing, enology and hospitality will be considered.
Internship presents an opportunity to learn about numerous aspects of the wine industry as well as network with significant members of the industry in various fields. Can provide needed support, if applicable, with academic institutions to fulfill credit. For an exceptional candidate, there is a very real possibility to turn this into a part-time or full-time job with the organization as it grows.
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: $500/month (with a small gas allowance)
