Sonoma Clean Power (SCP) is the new, locally controlled electricity provider in Sonoma County. SCP is a local public authority, independently run by the Sonoma County cities that join the program and the County, which represents unincorporated communities. Examples of Duties:
Serves in the capacity of a confidential executive assistant to the CEO, independently planning and coordinating administrative support functions and services; schedules appointments and maintains the CEO's calendar; composes and drafts correspondence and reports for the CEO's review; coordinates preparation and distribution of SCP Board agenda meeting materials and ensures agendas are posted in accordance with legal requirements; drafts and arranges for the legal publication of notices and postings of public hearings; maintains filing system for all correspondence, official SCP Board actions, and other legal documents; maintains web page for agendas, minutes, and other pertinent information related to the activities of the SCP Board and the CEO; prepares expense reports for reimbursement; attends SCP Board meetings and records and prepares official minutes.
The following qualifications are guidelines, as the appointing authority has broad discretion in filling this position.
Either (I) Possession of an Associate of Arts degree from an accredited college or university with a major in business management or a related field or (2) completion of a formal program of instruction in Business Administration or Business Technology from an accredited school, or (3) an equivalent program of academic preparation acceptable to the Authority, or (4) Possession of a certificate from International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) or comparable certifying organization; AND,
Ten (10) years of increasingly responsible experience performing highly complex, advanced administrative support to senior management. At least fi v e ( 5) years of experience serving in a capacity that supports an elected or non-profit board of directors and/or a public agency General Manager/CEO and which includes preparation of agency agenda materials and recording meeting minutes and transcription.
Modern office procedures, methods and equipment, including computers and applicable software applications such as Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, and other related databases; office organization and management, records maintenance and filing systems; principles of business letter writing and basic report preparation; proper use of and proficiency in spelling, grammar and punctuation; organization and functions of public agencies including the role of the Board, the General Manager/CEO and the departments within the Authority; Brown Act and Public Records Act requirements; basic accounting and budgeting; Methods and techniques of public relations and customer service.
Provide responsible and efficient administrative support the CEO and the SCP Board; understand the mission and functions of the SCP sufficient to explain to other agencies and the general public; work independently, using good judgment and initiative in carrying out assignments; set goals and priorities and carry out multiple assignments concurrently independently prepare a variety of administrative and financial reports, correspondence, and memoranda; respond in a tactful and professional manner to inquiries from the public, elected officials, directors, media representatives and other interested stakeholders; establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Proficiency in operating office computers and standard office equipment including specialized software applications programs.
Possession of a valid Class C California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record at the time of hire; a valid State of California Notary Public Licenses is required, or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of appointment.
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: $70,000 to $90,000 DOE (The SCP provides a competitive benefits package)
