Exchange Bank: Personal Banker

Open and maintain personal and business accounts while providing customer service to customers related to new accounts, promote product lines and provide assistance with transactions.



Personal Banker I

Sales and Service: 35%

Follow-up with customers to ensure satisfaction and cross-sell additional products.
Market and actively promote Bank products through community events.
Develop new business by prospecting, telephone consulting and cold calling.
Refer customers to other Bank departments for additional financial service products.
Work with other departments to successfully to complete the sales cycle.
Cross-sell products and services to achieve branch and individual goals.
Determine financial needs of customers and offer appropriate products.

New Accounts Services: 35%

Open accounts after interviewing and identifying customer's needs.
Enter customer information to open accounts.
Prepare all documentation for accounts using Bank software.
Perform all general maintenance of branch accounts.
Perform account inquiries and updates for customers.
Order new checks for customer accounts.
Activate ATM/DEBIT cards.
Answer telephone calls and provide assistance.

Operational Support: 20%

Provide backup and support to branch staff including vault support, daily ATM procedures/balancing, opening/closing branch, ordering supplies, cash/coin processing.
Perform the duties of a CSR as needed.

Non-Essential Functions: 10%

Personal Banker II:

Performs all duties listed above with the addition of the following:

Sales and Service: 35%

  • Interview consumer loan customers, quote rates and terms, and answer customer inquiries regarding loans.
  • Provide and/or accept loan applications, prepare loan cover sheets and forward packages to
  • Consumer Lending Department.
  • Make credit recommendations.
  • Complete loan signing with customer and disburse loans.

New Accounts Services: 20%

Loans: 20%

Operational Support: 15%

  • Coach and mentor Personal Banker I at branch.
  • Provides technical assistance and guidance to Personal Banker I.

Non-Essential Functions: 10%

Personal Banker I

  • Knowledge of modern office administration methods and practices.
  • Successfully complete CSR II test with a minimum score of 90% within three months of hire.
  • Successfully complete the New Accounts I Test with a score of 90% or better within three months of hire.
  • PC Skills including word processing, email and account management software.

Personal Banker II

  • Knowledge of software program used to facilitate the loan interview process.
  • Knowledge of credit analysis including debt service.
  • Successfully complete loan training and pass Consumer Lending test with a minimum score of 90%.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, walk, twist and turn.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator.
  • Work environment is indoors, majority of the time is spent sitting at a desk.


Education and Experience:

Personal Banker I:

A combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma; and knowledge typically gained through a minimum of two year sales, banking, or customer service experience.

Personal Banker II:

A combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma; and knowledge typically gained through a minimum of one year experience as a Personal Banker.
