We are currently seeking a Tax Specialist to join our corporate tax group in Santa Rosa office. The ideal candidate has solid understanding of Sales, Use and Property taxes reporting and has solid federal and state tax compliance experience. The person in this position will be responsible for preparing and supporting all Sales, Use and Property tax compliance, as well as assisting federal and state income tax filing and other special projects.

Jackson Family Enterprises is a family owned administrative services company based in Santa Rosa, California that oversees all of the wine production, marketing, and wine sales businesses owned and operated by the Jackson Family, including such well-known wine brands as Kendall-Jackson, La Crema, Murphy-Goode, Matanzas Creek, Cardinale, Stonestreet, Verite, Arrowood, Freemark Abbey, Cambria and Byron. The family owns thousands of acres of prime vineyard land in California, as well as wineries and vineyards in Australia, Chile, France and Italy. The family also owns numerous other wine industry businesses, including a barrel maker, and distribution companies.


We are currently seeking a Tax Specialist to join our corporate tax group in Santa Rosa office. The ideal candidate has solid understanding of Sales, Use and Property taxes reporting and has solid federal and state tax compliance experience. The person in this position will be responsible for preparing and supporting all Sales, Use and Property tax compliance, as well as assisting federal and state income tax filing and other special projects.

Responsibilities:

Primary:

  • Prepare all state property tax returns and reporting.
  • Prepare all state & local sales and use tax returns
  • Prepare annual vine reporting
  • Prepare monthly property tax accrual journal entries, perform monthly book/tax property tax accrual reconciliation
  • Responsible for property, sales & use tax scheduled payments
  • Maintain fixed asset records for the tax department
  • Administration of property, sales & use tax records including correspondence files and payments
  • Assist with state and local property tax, sales & use tax audit
  • Assist with special projects

Secondary:

  • Assist Tax Director / Tax Senior to prepare and file all federal and state income tax returns and quarterly estimated tax filings
  • Analyze tax accounts to ensure proper control over tax accruals, payments and credits.
  • Prepare all the state and federal income tax returns support schedules in collaboration with the Accounting Department, such as tax depreciation schedule
  • Special projects, research and analysis as assigned

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in accounting
  • Minimum three years of corporate tax compliance experience (Public Accounting Firm experience preferred)
  • Minimum three years of experience in the areas of sales, use and property taxation
  • Strong systems experience in Onesource, ShipCompliance & JDE
  • Self-starter that is organized and flexible to handle multiple tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude towards people and work assignments, and collaborative work style and team player
