Management Concentration

The Management concentration is designed to prepare students for a successful career in the management of organizations. Managers are entrusted with the responsibility for achieving organizational objectives through the coordination of technology, materials, money, and, most importantly, people.

Students will learn to grapple with the complexities of organizational life, decision making, problem solving, ethical considerations, and cultural values. Management coursework is intended to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies that are key to managerial success in all types of organizations. Areas of study include management, human resources, leadership, entrepreneurship, and international business management.

Career Possibilities

The Management concentration helps to prepare students to assume entry-level managerial positions and progress through middle management and upper management careers. Some of our recent graduates have advanced from first-level supervisors to middle management and store manager positions at major retailers, and others have risen to branch managers in the banking industry. Others have transitioned successfully out of management trainee programs to highly responsible human resources positions in the wine industry. Our graduates have also embarked on careers in high-technology, staffing, training, and tasting room management as well as public sector and entrepreneurial pursuits.
