Project Title: Marketing the New Business Incubator
Project Description: The newly formed Sonoma Mountain Business ClusterÕs
mission includes the creation of high paying jobs, regional economic
development, redevelopment of a vacant business park, enhancement of local
higher education, and development of technologies of social relevance. SMBC
offers a complete suite of core services and entrepreneurial assistance to
startup and early stage technology companies. SMBC is focused on Sustainable
Resources and Socially Relevant Technologies. SMBC is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation.
A marketing program to build
community awareness, attract client companies, sponsors, partners, and
participants for our service provider network is a necessity for success. Interns
will work with me to develop and implement a comprehensive and innovative
marketing plan. Working the plan will include exposure to a variety of
marketing elements including:
--Informational,
educational and networking events
-Public relations;
creation of materials for prospective clients and sponsors
-Government relations
-Media: newsletters,
brochures, magazine articles, newspaper and television coverage
-Website development and
promotion; innovative use of the web
-Speaking opportunities
-Participation in local
business and community organizations
-Mailing campaigns;

Sustainable Resources and Socially
Relevant Technologies are fast growing emerging industries in our region, and
SMBC is the North BayÕs first business incubator, be a part of the leading
edge! We already have 12 companies resident within the incubator, and are
growing rapidly toward our capacity of approximately 30 companies. This is a
fun, collaborative environment filled with entrepreneurial people.
Skills Needed: Business or Technology students with a strong interest
in marketing. Must have excellent
people, writing, presentation and conversational skills. The ability to work as
part of a team on a large project with minimal supervision. Event coordination
experience desirable. Strong
organizational skills and knowledge of MS Office suite required. Interest in
sustainable resources and/or medical technology a plus. Time commitment is flexible and up to
10 hours per week.

Location of Work: At your
preferred site; coordination meetings required.
Will you be Paid: No, SMBC is a non-profit. Unpaid internships.

Interns will get to interact with many of the business leaders in the North Bay and some of the brightest and
most successful entrepreneurs in the North Bay.
