JOB DESCRIPTION

The Director of Development leads the Land Trust
development department. Areas of focus include: formulating, planning and
executing a comprehensive plan for fundraising and membership programs;
managing the annual and capital campaigns as well as special fundraising
events; assisting in identifying and cultivating planned giving prospects; and
supervising two employees as well as various outside consultants.
Responsibilities
Under the direction and supervision of the Executive
Director, the Development Director will:
á Plan and execute The Land
TrustÕs comprehensive fundraising and membership programs.
á Formulate a development plan
to realize increased fundraising and membership/donor goals.
á Manage a development staff of
two employees and outside consultants.
á Identify and engage
individuals, foundations, and corporations in an active and systematic giving
program. Such giving will support
growing operational needs, capital projects and build long-term program support
through endowments.
á Direct the membership program
in all of its phases, including membership recruitment, membership renewal and
membership upgrading.
á Manage the annual campaign,
capital campaign and special fundraising events.
á Work with the Executive
Director to identify and cultivate planned giving prospects.
á Work with the Database Manager
to ensure proper and timely acknowledgement of charitable contributions and
accuracy of the donor database.
á Serve on the Executive
Management Team along with the Executive Director, Director of Land Protection
and the Administrative Director.
