HARVEST
INTERNSHIPS – CELLAR AND LAB
Heck Estates, a Sonoma County-based, family-owned company comprised of Kenwood Vineyards, Valley of the Moon Winery and Korbel Champagne Cellars, is seeking temporary lab and cellar workers for this harvest season.
Korbel,
located in the Russian River Valley, is recruiting one lab tech for
the immediate crush season (July through September) and one longer term
position (July through December), as well as a number of cellar workers; all
positions offer the opportunity to learn sparkling winemaking processes from a
landmark California producer.
Kenwood
and Valley of the Moon, in the heart of the Sonoma Valley, are
seeking interns to work from August to November and possibly beyond, where they
will gain hands-on experience making premium wines from classic varietals
including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon. Valley of the Moon is seeking one lab
and one cellar intern, and Kenwood is seeking two interns who will share lab
and cellar responsibilities, to include performing juice and wine analyses,
calculating and making cellar additions and assembling bench-scale blends
and trials.
Ideal candidates possess or are working toward an enology or life science degree and are hard-working, computer-literate, motivated team players with a passion for winemaking and a willingness to work overtime, including nights and weekends. Laboratory experience is highly desirable for those interested in positions involving lab work. Additionally, successful candidates will be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly and pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening.
