Academic Advising
The department maintains an active advising function in a two tier system. The department employs a full-time academic advisor with whom each Pre-Business student should consult on matters regarding general education, university requirements, the Pre-Business program and rountine major issues.
In addition, every full-time faculty member actively advises students, especially on matters relating to the major and careers. Early contact with a faculty advisor is essential. The student's faculty advisor's signature is necessary when applying for graduation.

Changing Major to Business Administration
Beginning with the fall 2011 semester, the Business major has become impacted; students applying to the University as business majors must meet enhanced admissions requirements. Read about the criteria implemented by the Department of Business Administration for students wanting to declare Business Administration after being admitted to SSU (pdf).
Orientations and Workshops
Several orientation sessions are offered for new students; these sessions provide information about procedures at SSU and include advising about appropriate courses to take. Prospective students can access helpful information on the University's site.
Undeclared students or students wanting to change into the Business Administration major must attend a Pre-Business Workshop before submitting the request form to declare the major. Students MUST sign-up ahead of time in order to attend a Pre-Business Workshop. Sign-up sheets are posted on the bulletin board outside the Business and Economics Office in Stevenson Hall, Room 2042.
Below are the Pre-Business Workshop dates for fall 2012. (All workshops will be held in STEV 2046.)
