FEES AND ELIGIBILITYSSU and CSU CURRENTLY ENROLLED STUDENTS:* The Student Health Center is funded by a Mandatory Student Health Fee paid each semester along with other campus registration fees.* This prepaid fee allows regularly enrolled SSU students to receive most Basic Service health care and health education services free of additional charge during the academic semester(s) of their enrollment. * In addition to the free Basic Services funded by the Mandatory Student Health Fee, the Student Health Center offers Augmented Services and Summer Services for which there are nominal additional charges. * Proof of Eligibility: Students should bring their Student ID card to Health Center visits as verification of enrollment. Enrollment status will also be verified through the central campus computer system. * Those found to be ineligible for free basic services are financially responsible for the cost of services received. CSU STUDENTS WHO ARE NOT REGULARLY ENROLLEDThere is no mechanism for billing of insurance or other third party payers by SSU. All point of service fees are due and payable by cash or check at the time of service. A receipt is provided for those wishing to seek reimbursement from their insurance company. Individuals in the following PRE-APPROVED CATEGORIES may receive some Health Center Services on a discounted fee for service basis.
What About Health Insurance?* Health Insurance is not required to use the Student Health Center. *Most Student Health Center services are provided to regularly enrolled SSU students without additional charge. Nominal fees are charged for some supplemental services such as specialized lab tests and medications. In these instances fee levels are heavily discounted and fees must be paid in cash or by check at the time of service. There is no mechanism for billing insurance by SSU. A receipt is provided for individuals wishing to seek reimbursement from their insurance company on their own.* Supplemental Health Insurance is recommended in the event that a student needs off campus medical or hospital services. A low cost private supplemental plan is available through the Associated Students Office for those who do not have private health insurance.
