NOTICE TO CONSUMERS
- Health Center services are available only to regularly enrolled SSU students (or to participants in specified campus sponsored programs).
- Most regular medical visits and related acute care services are provided without additional charge to regularly enrolled SSU students during the school year.
- Nominal fees may be charged for medications, specialized supplies or diagnostic tests, failure to return borrowed equipment, for failing to cancel a scheduled appointment in advance and for any summer services rendered.
- Patients are notified in advance of potential charges and may request fee information in person or by telephone without obligation.
- School year & summer services are also available on a nominal user fee basis to those who are participating in pre-designated campus-sponsored academic programs (and/or in University Credit Summer Session courses during Summer Session).
- When fees are accessed, they are payable at the time of service, and a receipt is provided. Payment must be in cash or by approved check. A charge is made for returned checks.
- Billing & re-billing charges may be assessed if bills are sent for continuing unpaid balances.
- Registration and Academic HOLDS are place on the records of students who have not paid outstanding balances or returned borrowed equipment.
- Regular SSU students are eligible for basic health services at other CSU Student Health Centers.
- Eligible individuals do not need insurance to use the Student Health Centers.
- Patients are financially responsible directly to the external provider for medical care, medications, supplies, services, etc. received outside the Student Health Center.
- Medical and other liability issues are handled through the California State University Risk Management Authority.
PHARMACY
- The Health Center Pharmacy maintains a limited low cost formulary of prescription and non-prescription items. Patients may use the SHC Pharmacy or an external pharmacy.
- Patients are notified at the time of purchase of the cost of medications. Price information may also be requested in person or by telephone without obligation.
- Professional patient consultation is provided. Ask the pharmacist if you have questions about medication dosage, possible side effects, drug interactions, etc.
- The Pharmacy is closed during the summer, and any prescription refills on record expire at the end of the school year.
