Anthropological
Studies Center (ASC)
The ASC was established to provide practical experience in Cultural
Resources Management to complement undergraduate and graduate
curricula available through the regular instruction program of
the University. The Center performs research in the areas of archaeology,
local history and ethnography. The Center's Director is Dr. Adrian
Praetzellis.
Center
for the Study of the Holocaust
The Center was established to provide a significant focus for
scholars, teachers and programs dealing with the Holocaust, a
seminal event of our times. It coordinates existing Holocaust-related
courses on campus and promotes new ones. The Center offers an
interdisciplinary perspective and encourages research on Holocaust-related
themes. The Center's Director is Dr. Myrna Goodman
Environmental
Studies Center (ETC)
The Environmental Technology Center (ETC) is a dynamic, interactive
and integrative facility where faculty, students, and community
members can work together in education, applied research, and
collaborative projects on energy and environment. Incorporating
sustainable building techniques and a wide range of design features
that minimize energy use, the ETC is projected to consume only
20% of the energy allowed by state code for similar buildings.
These “Green Building” features include environmentally responsible
building materials, passive solar heating and cooling, daylighting
and shading, advanced window systems, “smart building” control
technologies, photovoltaic electricity, and energy and water-efficient
landscaping.
Geographic
Information Center (GIC)
The mission of the GIC is to collect, house and promote the use
of geographic information for Sonoma County, for surrounding regions
and for the world. The GIC conducts projects and educates students
and community members in state-of-the-art technologies in geographic
information and analysis, particularly geographic information
systems (GIS) and remotely sensed data.
Institute
for Community Planning Assistance (ICPA)
The ICPA is designed to respond to the expressed needs of public
planning agencies in SSU's service area, and to the educational
and financial needs of planning and other interested students
as SSU.
Project
Censored
The primary objective of Project Censored is to explore and publicize
the extent of censorship in our society by locating stories about
significant issues of which the public should be aware, but is
not, because of the lack of media coverage. |
