The three Stooges meets Don Corleone
David Abbott, Staff Writer
After its initial confused and lethargic response to Katrina, our vaunted federal government, led by George “Codpiece” Bush, has come to the rescue just like the calvary.
American taxpayers should prepare themselves to kiss billions of dollars farewell as, mob-like, the Bush crime family gleefully extorts the equity of future generations of Americans to enrich its cronies at Halliburton, Bechtel, and the usual band of criminals including major Republican donor the Fluor Corporation. These are entities that thrive on chaos and use it as a cover for shameless pillaging.
The funds in Iraq have apparently dried up, but there’s a fresh pot o’ loot waiting to be divvied up right here on our own shores. True to form, the criminals who have taken over our government are shoveling out our tax dollars to their corporate sponsors, and the big losers are the needy people in the Southeast, and of course the American public.
In his speechifyin’ on Sep. 15, Bush promised to rebuild New Orleans and the rest of the Gulf Coast. That should frighten anyone who has paid attention for the past few years.
Time and again when disaster has struck and killed American citizens, Bush has trotted out speeches about being a “uniter not a divider,” or “getting results,” or “freedom is on the march,” or some other such nonsense. Disaster then becomes a pretext to steal and add to the harm inflicted on the American psyche.
In the wake of Katrina we are seeing environmental rules rolled back in the face of a massive environmental disaster and even more tax cuts for the wealthy at a time when deficits are skyrocketing. Bush has asked for and will probably receive expanded powers for the U.S. military at home, and private armies from the likes of Blackwater (think Fallujah) and ISI security are patrolling the streets of our increasingly police-like state.
This is government at its worst. The failed CEOs at the helm have found a successful business strategy that costs American lives as well as treasure.
The current occupants of the White house along with Congress, the Senate and the lobbyists that swarm like flies around carrion, behave like the third-world dictators they claim to abhor. It may be noted that they abhor “dictators,” such as Hugo Chavez, because he refuses to give away Venezuelan resources in the name of global capitalism. Even Saddam Hussein was our friend before he decided to switch Iraqi oil revenues from the almighty dollar to the Euro.
For all the True Believers out there who equate demanding accountability to “blaming Bush” for the hurricane; get real. That would be stupid.
The blame arises from anger at the direction our country has taken, and the blatant disregard shown to the public, as Karl Rove manipulates events to forward the Neo-Con eternal war agenda. No spin has gone unspun and no tragedy has been spared in a cynical grab for wealth and power for a relative handful of individuals.
The Bush Administration has eviscerated working federal institutions, appointed incompetent loyalists such as Michael “Brownie” Brown to important jobs and cabinet level positions, and continues to allow blatant profiteering to go unchecked in the wake of every disaster that has befallen us on its watch.
One of the many tragedies of Katrina is the way in which it exposed our weaknesses as a world power and as an advanced society. The whole world is watching, including potential “terrorists,” and those who are not laughing at us fear the insanity of our leaders. Contrary to what the unilateral pro-USA simpletons espouse on the television and radio, our image to the rest of the world does matter. We should all yearn for the days when fellatio was the biggest post-Watergate scandal.
Convoluted or quasi-intellectual defense of the Bush Administration cannot hide the fact that the American public is getting screwed. If our society continues on its current course, the disasters that have befallen us in recent years will look quaint in the scope of history.
There is a pattern of behavior playing out, and it is difficult to tell if Bush apologists recognize it and approve, or are merely clueless in their flag-waving glory.
Maybe New Orleans, the American taxpayers, and the world would be better off without the Bush Administration’s help.
