1. Conservation and sustainable management of the Sea Palm, Postelsia palmeaformis (funded by California Sea Grant) .

Coastal oceanography of the surf zone (including water quality monitoring funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) through the Center for Integrative Coastal Observation, Research, and Education (CICORE)and in collaboration with the Partnership for Interdisciplinary Studies of Coastal Oceans (PISCO)).
3. Impact of coastal oceanography on the population biology (especially reproductive output and recruitment) of intertidal invertebrates in Northern California.
