Bonita (Bonnie) Bergin, (B.A., 1983) is originator of the service dog concept, founder of Canine Companions for Independence, founding president of Assistance Dogs Int'l., founder and President of the Assistance Dog Institute (the world's first degree-granting college in dog studies 1991). She is originator of the curriculum teaching dogs to read, Oprah's "Use Your Life Award" 2001, Daily Point of Light Award 2000, and Distinguished Alumni Award 1993. |
| Kevin Danaher, (B.A., 1976) is co-founder of Global Exchange and a noted international human rights organization dedicated to promoting environmental, political and social justice based in San Francisco. He is well known for his dynamic speaking style aimed at encouraging people to expand their political vision and take charge of their lives. He received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2001. | |

Gayle Delaney, Ph.D., (M.A., 1975) is founding president of the Association for the Study of Dreams. ASD encourages research and quality in a subject too often abandoned to the superstitious. In her career, Delaney has taught people how to understand and use their nocturnal mental labor to improve their lives. She is also a lecturer, author, and columnist in a unique private practice. Delaney received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1992. |

Nancy Dobbs, (B.A., 1982) is President and CEO of Rural California Broadcasting Corporation KRCB Television and Radio. She has put six channels on the air over the past seventeen years. Prior to this position, Dobbs served as a health planner for the Northbay Health Systems Agency. She developed a five year regional health plan and coordinated with community organizations to implement the plan. She received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1998. |

Maureen Green, (B.S., 1950) is founding member of the Sonoma County Bach Society, sang with San Francisco Bach Choir, and is co-founder, with husband Don Green, of the Carriage Trade dedicated to promoting adoption of children. She is lead donor of Green Music Center, President of the Sonoma County Humane Society, and received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters in 1998. |

Vince Harper, (B.A., 1989) is Interim Director of Youth and Neighborhood Services with the Community Action Partnership of Sonoma County. His special interest has been providing positive alternatives to gangs, violence, drugs, and alcohol to neighborhood youth at the South Park Youth Center. Harper is on the governing board of CHOP’s (DeMeo Teen Club, Inc.), and received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1999. |

Heide Harris, (B.A., 1993) is a counselor at Austin Community College, Austin, Texas. From SSU, Heide when on to receive a Master of Divinity from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley. She is pursuing a Masters in Counseling at St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas. She currently serves as Pastor at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Weesatche, Texas. Harris received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2000. |

Molly Murphy MacGregor, (B.A.) is co-founder and director of the National Women's History Project. She taught one of the first class on women's history at a high school level. MacGregor then enrolled in a masters of history program at SSU in 1974. As Executive Director of the NWHP, MacGregor travels throughout the country giving speeches and conducting in-service trainings on the contributions of women to society. She received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1996. |

Andrew McGuire, (B.A., 1971) is founder and executive director of Trauma Foundation at San Francisco General Hospital. He is Emmy Award-winning producer of five documentary films, MacArthur Fellow 1985 and Kellogg Fellow 1982. He has received the University of New England Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree in 1989, an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters Degree in 1996, and the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1996. |

Patricia Robles-Mitten, (B.A., 1974) is founding member and director of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Mujeres Unidas, and the Bilingual Broadcasting Foundation. She is thought of as the matriarch of the Latino community. She was granted the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1995. |

Ed Sayres, (B.A., 1970) is president of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in New York City. He is nationally recognized for his innovation in the design and function of animal shelters. Sayres is also the author of Cinderella Dogs, a story of real-life fairy-tail adoptions from the San Francisco SPCA. He received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2001. |

George Triest, (Credential, 1980; M.A., 1980) oversees grant-funded programs for the California Institute of Human Services (CIHS). These programs include a national high school reform program, teacher training on improving instruction for language minority students in local schools. Triest serves as the board president for Becoming Independent and as board president for a local synagogue. He was granted the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2003. |
