Historical Perspective
Dr. Crabbe came to Sonoma State University in 1990 as Dean of Academic Programs and Associate Professor of English. At Sonoma, she has also served as Associate Vice President for Academic Programs and Vice Provost for Enrollment and Student Academic Services. Previously Dr. Crabbe was Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Director of Graduate Studies at the State University of New York College at Geneseo.
At Sonoma State University, Dr. Crabbe has been successful at developing and implementing academic programs and policies that support student success and engagement. She was instrumental in the development of the University Writing Center, led the Student Administration Team in the development and implementation of the Common Management System at Sonoma State University, and co-chaired the fesibility study committee for the development of the Technology High School. She also led the development and implementation of the Academic Innovation Office through which the interdisciplinary majors in Womens and Gender Studies, Human Development, Global Studies, and California Cultural Studies were added to the Sonoma State curriculum. She currently serves as a member of the steering committee for the University Center at Elsie Allen High School and as a member of the Sonoma State University Academic Foundation Board of Directors.
As Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, Dr. Crabbe has responsibility for leading and providing direction for student services and student activities including enrollment , health and wellness, retention, diversity, student activities and leadership development. With the SAEM Directors, she has responsibility for ensuring that SAEM programs and activities are firmly grounded in theory, have clear and appropriate goals and objectives, are delivered efficiently and effectively, and are carefully evaluated for effectiveness in the spirit of continuous improvement.
