It is with mixed emotions that I announce that Jeff Banks, our Senior Associate Vice President for University Personnel, will be leaving us as he has accepted the position of vice chancellor for human resources at the University of Denver.
As many of you know, Jeff has been an integral part of the Sonoma State University leadership team and has done a tremendous job supporting team SSU.

With Jeff’s leadership, the University Personnel department has implemented best HR practices focused on working collaboratively across the campus. Jeff has played a key role in managing campus processes and people during the pandemic and working on many important initiatives during these challenging times. Please join me in congratulating Jeff on this accomplishment and wishing him every success in his new role at the University of Denver.

Given Jeff’s departure and in consultation with Provost Moranski, I have asked Kent Porter, an experienced Faculty Affairs administrator in the CSU, to step in to provide support for faculty around contractual issues and labor relations. Kent is a CSU retired annuitant with more than 30 years of experience in the system. He most recently served in an interim faculty affairs role at CSU San Marcos. Kent will work mostly virtually beginning on Monday, March 7.

As Jeff prepares to transition to his new position in Denver, Chandra Holte has agreed to help lead University Personnel as the Administrator in charge in the interim role,  effective Monday, March 7. A recruitment effort will be launched immediately for his replacement. Please feel free to contact Chandra directly, the Human Resources Office at hr@sonoma.edu or Academic Personnel at academicpersonnel@sonoma.edu or by calling 707-664-3100.
