Welcome to the website for Tom
Buckley's laboratory at Sonoma State University. My students and I study
environmental plant physiology from an integrative perspective. We prefer to
work on intact plants or leaves whenever possible, and our experiments are
often directed by formal mathematical theory.
Current research focuses on stomatal physiology and leaf respiration. We are
testing hypotheses about how water moves in leaves, how stomata sense and
acclimate to changes in environmental conditions, and how leaf respiration is
affected by light. Students are engaged
in research in my lab at several levels.
