Before
filing the attached application, please read guidelines for
the Masters of Arts and Sciences in Interdisciplinary
Studies and make an appointment with the ITDS coordinator
for procedural advising.
Your application must include the
following:
1. The cover page with your name and
address, the title of your program, and the signature of
the ITDS Coordinator (page 1 of Application)
2. Academic information including two references (page
2)
3. The list of courses, both core and supplementary,
to be taken in your program (page 3)
4. The proposed title of your final project (page
3)
5. The names and signatures of the faculty advisors
for your program (pages 4-5)
6.The statement of the Chairperson of your Committee
(page 4)
7. Your signature (page 5)
8.The names and signatures of the Graduate
Coordinators and Department Chair appropriate to your
program (pages 6 and 7)
The following are also required:
1. A written essay that provides the
rationale for your program (See Written Essay, beginning
p. 11 of the Guidelines)
2. Appropriate forms for Special Studies (495/595) and
Internships. These must be submitted with a description
of the study or work to be done and the signatures of the
instructor, the Chair of your Advisory Committee, and the
ITDS Coordinator.
3. Transcripts for all colleges and universities
attended. It is your responsibility to make the
transcripts available, including transcripts of SSU
course work.
4. Two letters of recommendation
5. Evidence of ability to conduct independent
research, such as a sample paper, a project report, or a
portfolio. This will be returned to you after the review
process is completed.
