General Physics Lab first semester
GE: category B1 or B3 (Physical Sciences) and GE laboratory requirements

Prerequisite:  
Previous or concurrent enrollment of P210A or equivalent required. This is an algebra-trig based course. 

Subjects: 
Statistical Analysis of data and introduction to electronic data acquisition.
Dynamics in one and two dimensions, Newton's Laws, Sound waves, temperature. 

Materials: 
•	½ ” three-ringer binder for worksheets and all returned work. 
•	Lab manual with all experiments included for $10. In class the first two weeks.
 
Late Work
10% grade reduction for late reports and homework. After 1 week the instructor can refuse to accept them. Talk to me as soon as possible for extenuating circumstances. To pass you cannot miss more than 3 classes. 

Missed work:
You cannot make up a missed quiz. Your lowest quiz grade will be dropped. If you miss 2 quizzes, you will not be given credit for one of them. (10 points) If you were absent the previous week you can still take the quiz; review the experiment details before coming and contact your lab partner. If you missed an experiment requiring a lab report you can come in during the last week of classes to make up a substitute experiment without penalty. If you miss two, one will be graded a zero.

Total possible points after 1 quiz dropped = 240

Your final grade will be based on the percentage of points earned. I have the option of taking into account your overall work, improvements made, participation. Quizzes test your understanding of the physics of the experiment, or statistical concepts. Take good notes and try to understand the significance of the lab before you leave and you should do fine with them.
