Guidelines and Assessment Rubric for your Analytical Educational Autobiography

Your life history shapes the beliefs and personal theories about education. Considering your life story helps you to understand how your prior experiences have shaped your values, interests, strengths, weaknesses. Examining your autobiography also helps you understand your cultural identity and clarify your cultural values.

Write about your own educational experience, focusing on the different topics we have discussed in class. Compare and contrast your experience with concepts from the course readings. Bring in quotes from our readings, discuss how they relate to your life experience.

Explain why you make that particular connection. For example, concepts from the readings can help you understand why a certain experience was important; or your experience may be different from what research and theory postulates, why would that be? etc. Make sure you cite the source of your quote. Use APA citation format.

Bring in at least 7 different ideas and quotes from your readings. Make sure you bring in concepts from different readings.
