QUIDELINES FOR MINI RESEARCH PROJECT
1. Define your topic and key issues
2. Explain why your topic is important
3. Present the major arguments of the issue
4. Analyze what questions does your topic brings up
5. Review at least 4 research articles about your topic. Articles should be from "peer reviewed" or "refereed" journals. In addition you can use all the readings from class, books, other articles. Look on ERIC data base, Primary Search (choose the Academic Search Elite database), journals in library. Attend a tutoring session in the library if you need help with your search, or go to the reference desk in the library and ask one of the Librarians for guidance.
6. Interview one person in the field, who can offer insights into your topic (a teacher, administrator, student, parent, school board official, etc.)
7. Use APA citation style (click here )
8. Follow writing guidelines (click here)
9. Post your study on the web. (Approximately 1800 words)
10. Hand in a hard copy to me
11. Hand in copies of the research articles you used. If they are too long, just printing out the first two pages is OK. I will return them to you. Please put in a manila folder, or in a manila envelope.
You will present your group research project to the class, using Power Point slides as visual aides
You will have 15-20 minutes for your presentation.
Assessment Rubric

a) Review at least 4 research articles (per group member) about your topic. Articles should be from "peer reviewed" or "refereed" journals

c) Present the major arguments of the issue, analyze what questions does your topic bring up
4) Interview one person in the field, who can offer insights into your topic
(a teacher, administrator, student, parent, school board official, etc.)
Present the responses in your paper and make connections between the responses and the findings from research you reported.
Add the notes from your interview
in in Appendix at the end of your paper. (15)
5) Write a final conclusion in which
you restate your question and briefly state what you found.(5)

7) Bibliography: APA style and in alphabetical order: (10)
