Guidelines for your final paper: Education Philosophy

 

Make sure that you address the following points:

  1. What is the purpose of formal education? (4 points)
  2. What contents should be taught and why? (4 points)
  3. How can we ensure that all children learn? (4 points)
  4. How should schools deal with diversity? (4 points)
  5. What is the role of students and of teachers? (4 points)
  6. What should the role of parents be? (4 points)
  7. Justify your positions by referring to concepts from readings, these can be similar or different to your beliefs.
    Bring in specific information, quotes and concept the course readings.

    The quote should be longer than one sentence, to convey the complete idea.

    Explain how the idea or quote from the readings is related to your position. Explain similarities or differences.

    You need to refer to at least 7 different course readings. (35 points)

  8. Add a Bibliography at the end of your paper, citing the sources for the concepts and quotes you mention in your essay. (11 points)
  9. Pay attention to the logical organization of your paper, check quality of writing and spelling.
    (Add page numbers) (20 points)
  10. Respond to a peers individual philosophy of education.
    Include comments that address ideas you liked and why.
    Post a question about the philosophy, such as: why do you think this important?
    Refer to similarities in your thinking and explain why. (10 points)
