- What's a function?
- Give an example of something that sounds
like it should be a function but isn't.
- What is the domain of a function?
- What is the range of a function?
- Explain three different ways of describing functions.

using its graph and using the algebraic definition.
- Do the same for an odd function.
- Draw a graph with time on the x-axis (beginning when you got
out of bed this morning), and distance from your bed on the y-axis.
- What are the three major function families? Give several
examples of functions in each family.
- What does (f + g)(x) mean? Explain in words and using symbols.
- What does
(fog)(x) mean? Explain in words and using
symbols.
- What does it mean for two functions to be inverses? Explain in
words, using symbols, and using the function machine picture.
