Common cold linked to HIV

I read that scientists at University of Wisconsin, Maddison have united some theories in virology. They say that there are three different sub categories that viruses can fall into, and HIV, the cold, and Hepatitis C are all in the same boat. It has to do with separate areas in the host cell where the virus does its DNA or RNA processing.
