A ruler (king, emperor, czar, lord) owns the land.
Primary producers (cultivators, herdsmen, fishermen) are allowed access to land in exchange for tribute (labor or share of harvest).
Primary producers gain access to land and labor resources based on kinship relationships.
Capitalists own the land, raw materials, factories, tools, etc.
Workers sell their labor to get access and make products out of these resources.
The surplus created by the workers (above wage) is a source of profit for capitalists.
