ENSP 338 Water Techonology

 

Atlantic Richfield Oil Company - ARCO

Drive South across the San Rafael Richmond Bridge
Take the second exit Canal Blvd.
Turn right onto Canal Blvd.
Drive about 2 miles. There is a guard shack. Say you are going to ARCO.
They will issue a gate pass.
Drive 1/4 mile. ARCO is on the left hand side. Drive through the gate.
The office is beside the gate.

 

Cloverdale Water Treatment Plant

Drive north on Highway 101 to Cloverdale
Take the Citrus Fair Exit and go east to Asti Road.
Go north on Asti to First Street.
Go east on First Street and just before you cross the river you will see the sign for River Park.
Turn Left to the Treatment Plant

 

HENNESSY WATER TREATMENT PLANT

If you start at the campus, you should drive to Petaluma and then to Sonoma and then to Napa.
Do not try to go over the mountains, it will take much longer.
I will assume that you have a map or know how to do so. Do not go into the city of Napa.
Take Highway 29 north to Rutherford.

If you start in Santa Rosa, you can go to Calistoga via Calistoga Road, or take Highway 12.
You turn east either on Trinity Road. Cross the mountain to the Oakville Grade and go to Rutherford.

From Rutherford, no matter how you get there, turn east on Highway 128
and go a few miles to the east side of the valley.
The road makes several turns but stay on Highway 128. You will pass the Siverado Trail.

Look for the signs for Sage Canyon Road and Conn Dam.
Follow Sage Canyon Road to the mail box for 1000 Sage Canyon Road, on the south side of the road.
The driveway to the treatment plant is on the north side of the road.
Follow the driveway a mile or so to the plant.
If you get lost ask people to direct you to the plant near Conn Dam or call 963-1116.

 

Agilent Santa Rosa (was Hewlett - Packard) Waste Water Treatment Plant

Take Highway 101 to Fountain Grove Parkway. This is near Kaiser Hospital.
You will see the old round barn on your left as you go up the hill.
Drive to the second entrance to Hewlett Packard at the top of the hill,
and tell the guard you are with our class
and you are going to see the superintendent of the waste water treatment plant.
Drive to "3 Lower Lobby" and identify yourself to the security people in the lobby.

 

Laguna Waste Water Treatment Plant

Drive north or south on 101 to Highway 116.
Go west on 116 about one mile to Llano Road.
Look for a log cabin called the Llano House Antiques.
Turn right and drive over the hill to the water treatment plant which is on your right (east).
Drive onto the plant, and drive to the flagpole. Salute.

 

LAS GALLINAS WASTE WATER TREATMENT PLANT

Drive south on Highway 101 through Petaluma and Novato
and north of San Rafael turn at the Lucas Valley - Smith Ranch Road off ramp.
Turn right under the freeway and follow the signs for the Sanitary District
to the end of the road about one half mile east of the freeway.
Do not enter the low security prison.
Park at the water treatment plant, and enter the brown brick building.

 

Marine World Water Treatment Plant

Drive south toward Novato and follow the signs for Highway 37 and Vallejo.
This is also called the "Blackpoint Cutoff" by older citizens like me
who remember when there was no quick way across the Petaluma River.
Drive about 20 miles to Vallejo and follow the signs to Marine World.
It is right next to Highway 37. Go into the parking lot and find the guard building.
It is at the north (right) side of the parking lots.
They are expecting us, so they should know where you should go from there.

 

Occidental Area Water Treatment Plants

Drive to Cotati. Go north on Old Redwood Highway about three blocks.
Follow the signs for Sebastopol via route 116 called "The Gravenstein Highway".
Turning west (east) at the Shell Station.
If you end up on the freeway, you have gone too far north.
Turn around - safely. Follow 116 for about 10 miles.
It twists and turns in many different ways, but stay with it.
Go through the city of Sebastopol. About two miles north of town you will see Occidental Road.
It has a stop light. Turn west (left) and travel on the winding two lane road another ten miles or so.
The road ends in the town of Occidental. You can not miss it. Please drive carefully.
It is a dangerous route. When you reach the little town, turn south (left).
Stop at the Howard Station Cafe, 75 Main St.

 

Petaluma Poultry Processors

Drive north or south on 101 to Petaluma.
Exit Freeway at Lakeville Highway
Drive south on Lakeville Highway to 2700 that road.
We expect to be there about 1:30

 

 

After that drive north on Lakeville Highway to D Street

Drive west (left) on D Street and cross bridge.

Turn north (right) on Main Street

and drive two blocks to Western

Turn west (left) on Western and drive about 6 blocks to the Creamery

 

 

 

Petaluma Waste Water Treatment Plant

Drive to Petaluma north or south on 101
Exit on Washington Street and drive west toward the city center.
Turn left (south) on Lakeville which is at the rail road track.
Drive about two blocks. Go past D Street.
Right at Hopper Street.
This is just across the street from the old Sunset Line and Twine factory and Shamrock Sand and Gravel. Drive to the end of the road. You are there.

 

San Geronimo Water Treatment Plant

Drive South on Petaluma Hill Road to Old Redwood Highway.
The name of this street changes to Petaluma Boulevard North but stay right with the traffic.
Turn right (west) on D Street in Petaluma and drive about 10 miles.
You will come to Nicasio Road at Nicasio Reservoir.
Turn left (south) and drive about 4 miles.
Turn left (east) on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.
You will see the Water Treatment Plant on your right
but there is no entrance to the plant from the Boulevard.
Drive about one block and turn right.
Drive a short block and turn right again and drive back toward the plant. Enter the main entrance.

Sonoma Developmental Center Trip

Drive north on Petaluma Hill Rd. about 2 miles
Turn right (east) on Crane Canyon Road. Drive about 3 miles to T.
Turn right (east) on Bennett Valley Road. Drive about 5 miles to T.
Turn right(south) on Warm Springs Road. Drive about 3 miles.
Turn right on Arnold Drive. Drive about 1.5 miles to Sonoma Developmental Facility.
Pass through the intersection with a red flashing light.
Drive one more block to the next entrance on your right.
It is Wilson Street and it is marked as the Truck entrance.
Turn right and follow that street two blocks to T.
We meet at the two toned Green Building for Plant Operations.

 

Stafford Lake Reservoir Water Treatment Plant,
Novato, Calif.

Drive north or south to 101 to the Atherton, San Marin Ramp
Drive west on San Marin for 3 miles
Right (west) on Novato Blvd. at the High School, go one mile.
Left (south) at Indian Valley Golf Course sign.
You will see the little water plant. If you drive to the reservoir you have gone too far.

 

Windsor Water Reclamation Facility

 

Drive north on Highway 101 past Santa Rosa about 4 miles.
Take the Shiloh Road exit and drive west (left) one mile.
Turn north (right) on Windsor Road one mile.
You will see the signs and the plant at 8400 Windsor Road.
We are meeting Mr. John Johnson at about 1:40 pm.
