Assignment

In this final unit of the course, course participants try out the learning activities that each of you designed as an instructor. Here's how this works:

Two course participants work as learners with each designer/instructor. And each course participant works as a learner with two different designer/instructors. Thus, each participant as designer/instructor will receive feedback from two learners, and each participant as learner will have the opportunity to experience the work of two different designer/instructors.

NOTE: I've created a separate WebCT forum for each Designer/Instructor-Learner-Learner unit. The forums are labeled "Unit 6: DESIGNER, Learner, Learner" with the appropriate names inserted, i.e., the designer/instructor is in CAPS, and the learners are in lower case. You're invited to visit forums other than your own to see what's going on and to make comments if you wish.

Early in the second week of this Unit, each participant learner should use the forum for Unit 6 ("Guest Learner Experience") to explain what you did or are doing as a guest learner.
  • What was the learning activity (LA) in which you engaged, and who designed it?
  • How did the LA work for you?
  • Were the directives for the LA clear?
  • How well did the LA relate to the learning objective?
  • Did the LA help you to engage with the subject matter of the learning activity?
  • How did the LA promote active learning? How did the collaboration work between you and your learning partner?
  • What suggestions do you have for the designer of the LA?
And...
 

...don't forget to talk about your experience as an instructor with your guest learners, and with the whole class.

Let's have a vigorous discussion between participants in the designer and learner roles.
