WebCT Tutorial

To orient you to the WebCT interactive tools that you'll be using to communicate with me and with each other in this course, and to post your discussions and assignments, read the following documentation:

How to Work in WebCT

Orientation to WebCT and to Online Learning

Read Student's Guide to Succeeding with Online Courses

Now demonstrate your WebCT skills:

  • When you've finished reading the above documentation, you need to set up your account in WebCT. It's easy. Just follow the steps here.
  • After you've registered in WebCT, send me an e-mail message using the e-mail function in WebCT. Do NOT send your message to me at this address: thomas.nolan@sonoma.edu
  • Then post an entry in the threaded-discussion labeled I Can Do It in WebCT for Nurs 400A or Nurs 400B to indicate that you know how to post a message (say anything you want to, just to let us know you know how to post in the forums).

• If you're new to the Net, make use the Internet tutorial. (Bookmark this one: it is a very long web page of resources from the UC Berkeley library on how to use the Internet. It is way too much to go through in one sitting. Go back to it at your leisure from time to time over the course of the semester. By the end of the semester, you should be fairly skilled at using the Internet to search for the information you need or want.)

For help with WebCT, get in touch with...

Your instructor--Professor Thomas Nolan--at: 707-664-2830.

The Sonoma State University WebCT support line: 707-664-2339. If no one answers, leave a message and someone will get back to you (explain that you're in my "N400 course" and they'll know what you're talking about).
